New Damu and Raw Poetic Album Available NOW!
_
Raw Poetic and Damu the Fudgemunk's new album, Moment of Change highlights the musical fundamentals the veterans developed in the early stages of their creative journeys.  Their last album was 2017's "The Reflecting Sea: Welcome to a New Philosophy" which some would classify as more adventurous and experimental.  Moment of Change embraces their true school roots of classic hip hop and the core aesthetic Redefinition Records is known for.  After both appearing on Blu's acclaimed 2019 album, Ground and Water, rapper/vocalist Raw Poetic and DJ/producer Damu the Fudgemunk are releasing the first installment of several albums they plan to drop within the year 2020.  At 8 tracks and under 35 mins, the record is packed with all the components that make rap entertaining from dope lyrics, catchy hooks, live scratching and freshly sampled beats.

The artists had this to say about the record...
_
Damu the Fudgemunk:  I stripped my production style down quite a bit and used more loops and minimalist/classic approach to sampling which I haven't employed in a long time.  Most of the record was recorded between late December 2019 and early Jan 2020.  Raw Poetic's opening line refers to "you caught the virus" which was written before any of the quarantine life was our reality.

Raw Poetic:  I think it speaks to this very moment. From the passing of Kobe to the Coronavirus quarantine, we've been left with a lot to reflect on... and make a change. Hence the title.
Stay tuned for announcements on Raw Poetic and Damu's next record called Ocean Bridges featuring the legendary Archie Shepp set to drop in May.  For fans of the unconventional, The Reflecting Sea: Welcome to a New Philosophy, Ocean Bridges with Archie Shepp is a non-stop ride into the future of their creativity.

KAAN & FLOFILZ & REDEF
_

In other equally exciting news, your guy and our guy K.A.A.N. aka "The world's busiest rapper"  has prepared something special for Redef since his last project with Ski Beatz, Requiem for a Dream.  K.A.A.N has teamed up with German heavyweight Flofilz for an upcoming album entitled Lost in Translation.  How did this happen you ask?  Well it traces back to Damu.  You see while Damu was on on tour in Europe a few years back he had the pleasure of meeting Flofilz.  The two share mutual friends and eventually started talking about a Redef collaboration of sorts.  In addition to mutual friends, there's mutual respect between the 2 producers which extended to rapper K.A.A.N.  Once K.A.A.N. heard Flofilz's beats and saw his movement, the two got to work immediately.  Once the recording was done, Damu mixed it and added his own final production touches.  Get ready for a very tight collaboration.  Our homie Blu was so inspired by what was going on, he got involved on Simonal which is the first single.  Listen here.

The future of Redef & Vinyl...
_
We're very appreciative to continue operations considering what's affecting us all.  In times of difficulty and uncertainty there comes adaptation.  Many of you may be wondering if there will be any vinyl for our latest and upcoming titles.  To quote Flex Mathews and Damu, "The Answer is Yes".  However, quite a few variables in the record making business have impacted our and many other's ability to get records manufactured, shipped & received then redistributed to stores and fans alike.  So we still love vinyl and can't wait drop new records, but we can create and publish digitally much faster getting records in hand.  It's just the nature of the technology.  If we wait on records right now, who knows how long that could extend.  So we much rather get the music out cause that's the most important thing.  With that said, expect to see new music more frequently from us and know that we intend to press vinyl in the future.  Thank you for your patience.
